C.J. Donovan Companies LLC was created and built by owner Cahal Donovan starting in May of 2017. With a walk behind lawn mower, a weed whacker and a dream of one day being self employed. While working full time for a well known local landscaper in Skaneateles, we began to slowly build a clientele of our own by mowing and landscaping around Otisco Lake.

As time went on, the projects got bigger and the vision of what could be one day became real life. Eventually it did not make sense to continue working for someone else full time while working all weekend for himself. We jumped into the deep end with the purchase of our first excavator, a brand new Caterpillar 306CR. During this process of working full-time for himself, Cahal was also pursuing an earlier life endeavor while wrestling at Cortland State. Imagine your first year being self employed, while wrestling at the collegiate level, attending classes and eventually qualifying for the NCAA D3 Wrestling Nationals. It hasn’t been a cake walk, but we are built on conquering challenges!

This proved that no matter the circumstances, we would not be denied. The rest is history!
